The Alpha S005B Motion Sensor Black is a high-reliability, wireless safety sensor designed to automatically protect outdoor roller blinds and folding arm awnings from wind damage. Unlike traditional sun and wind sensors that rely on weather readings from nearby devices, the Alpha S005B Motion Sensor Black detects actual physical movement of the blind or awning’s front bar, making it one of the most accurate and dependable wind-protection systems available for Alpha motors.

This compact battery-powered sensor mounts directly onto the front channel of an outdoor roller blind or awning. When wind causes excessive vibration or movement, the Alpha S005B Motion Sensor Black sends a wireless signal via 433.92 MHz rolling codes to retract the blind or awning immediately. With nine pre-set sensitivity levels, owners can choose the level of protection that suits their installation and environment.

For folding arm and cassette awnings, the sensor sends periodic “heartbeat” pulses to the motor to confirm it is active. If the motor stops receiving these pulses—typically due to flat batteries—the motor will automatically close the awning after approximately 30 minutes. This built-in safeguard does not apply to Universal motors, although the sensor will still trigger wind-protection retraction.

Powered by two AAA batteries and featuring an IP44 weather rating, the Alpha S005B Motion Sensor Black is ideal for protecting outdoor roller blinds, alfresco blinds, café blinds, patio blinds, folding arm awnings, and cassette awnings. It cannot be used together with sun/wind sensors.
